Wings are given to all (2003)
THE WINGS ARE GIVEN TO ALL is a plastic show based on Richard Bach's "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" . It was played for the first time in 2003. This was the graduation work of the students of the Institute of Arts, but the show was not an ordinary project of the students. No word is spoken throughout the entire show, and the voice of the translator is not heard. The young teachers at the Institute Anna Bashenkova (acting), Alexandr Martyanov (gesture) and Ekaterina Migitsko (plastic movement) tried to create a special language of artistic expression, joining dance and plasticity with highest artistic gestures. A flower blooms out of the hands of the artists on the stage, out of which a bird flies out and a wind-broken tree is reborn.
The main character of the show - Joe Seagull (Natalya Hohlova) has a hard choice to: stay with the flock of seagulls and pick through the food remnants thrown by fishermen; accept the love of the Traitor, and, together with him, conquer the world; or closing the eyes and looking deep inside his soul, fly up with his Teacher as high as noone ever did. These are the questions we are asking our audience. We are trying to tell the truth, but do not force the people to believe it. It is most difficult to believe that one is free. The wings bring out the idea of unlimited freedom. Do not believe your eyes! They only see obstacles.
The touch (2006)
The premier staging of the play The touch was held on the 30th of April 2006. This performance is based on plasticity, its history is revealed by the means of plasticity, dancing and gesture.
Live music (guitar, flute, violon) is playing during the whole performance. It's a kind of experiment, the first attempt to combine the plasticity of deaf actors with half improvisational musical accompaniment. By the way, all percussion parts are performed by the actors themselves!
The action of the play takes place in one of the bars of a small town. When the evening falls the bar becomes alive and absolutely different personalities appear. A boy that washes the floor that dreams of becoming a painter, tries to make the lonely sad girl laugh. A hooker 'the queen of the bar", tired of burning her live is dreaming to find true love and family. A young man with big sad eyes that meets a beautiful girl in his dream, can never meet and recognize her in the reality.
Here is the crossroads of lonely people's destinies; some of them are dreaming to find happiness, some of them want to understand the meaning of their lives.
The world is cruel. When we are surviving in it, we often forget to notice kindness and beauty that surrounds us and that we desperately need. They are very close, one just has to see it, reach out the hand and touch it.
In the performance different realities are oddly interlaced: out of the normal life we get into the world of dreams, when one of the heroes falls asleep; to the world of fantasies, when someone wants to share thoughts hidden deep inside.
